Hello, Mr Snowman

Thought I would have a go at making a snowman this afternoon. And here he is!

Turned from American Ash with a scorched top-hat and lightly stained white, Mr Snowman has tortured willow arms and nose (stained orange for the traditional carrot) with hand painted eyes and mouth. He is about 150mm and 48mm wide.

I’ll possibly not be turning another one from this kind of wood as it is rock hard and difficult to shape…tulip would be much nicer to work with and also feels smoother in the hands…plus, I find it accepts a finer finish than the ash.

Other variations will follow, and if you would like one made especially for you, please do contact me and I will be pleased to turn a cheeky chappy like for you. There may be additional costs for turning to order.

Cost: £ tbc – but around £12.99. (plus p&p)

  1. I love the way this little snowman looks, the way the grain of the wood shapes to the curves.

  2. Oh wow! This is gorgeous – what a cute face! Lovely use of different woods. Jeni (jenijenjens@hotmail.com)
