This piece of English Yew is silky smooth to the touch and shows beautiful cream and reddy/brown colours running down the half inch thick walls.
Seven inches in diameter and two and a half inches deep approximately, the bowl has a prominent feature on the inside that continues to the outside of the wall.
It was turned by hand on the lathe, sanded down to 600 grit with danish oil for a superfine final sanding. It then had two coats of danish oil, two of a cellulose sanding sealer and then polished with a lathe polish. Finally, it had a coating of a hard carnauba wax for a wonderful natural looking sheen.
With a striking contrast between the light and dark parts of the wood and a glorious grain structure, this bowl is a handsome and practical objet d’art.
