This week’s piece has been described as ‘Marmite’ on YouTube. I agree. What do you think?
‘You either love it or hate it’ is a marketing slogan for well known British sandwich spread, Marmite. And, it pretty much describes how this piece feels to Paul Lockwood on YouTube…and I have to agree.
It doesn’t balance out particularly well on either side. The tops and bottoms don’t complement the centre on each side, and basically, it’s a bit of a higgledy piggledy mess.
BUT! It was great fun to turn, I have to say!
Made from two 7″ blanks of sycamore, the centre disk is 7″ and the top and the bottom are about 6″ or so.
Plenty of texturing and decorating going on with this piece. I used a dremel and Crown sprialling tool for the texturing, and then accented that with iron reactive paint, metal leaf and rosewood stain. See more in the video below:[membership level=”0″]
